WordPress vs. Blogger, what would you prefer?
I remembered 2 years ago when I just started blogging. I just realized that writing a blog does not only mean online journals or online diaries, but it can also be an instrument for SEO and making money online.
I started blogging using wordpress.com and blogger, and as time goes by, I learned how to create money from those blogs.
I also learned how to use blogs can be used for 3 way linking, especially on adult sites.
I started working on blogs using wordpress.org in mid-2007. I also learned how to install WordPress in mid-2008. And right now, I choose wordpress rather than blogger because:
- Blogs in Blogger are very hard to configure because it uses special tags that only Blogger can understand, but WordPress is easier to edit, because it can only require knowledge in PHP and HTML.
- Blogger’s CSS cannot be externalized.
- WordPress posts can have meta tags for each post using All in one SEO plugin.
- WordPress is more corporate than Blogger.

I came to noticed that we are both far fetched and always contradicting with our thoughts and statement, but that’s just me LOLZ
“1.Blogs in Blogger are very hard to configure because it uses special tags that only Blogger can understand, but WordPress is easier to edit, because it can only require knowledge in PHP and HTML.
ME-> Blogger only requires XML knowledge and using DIV’s with CSS, PHP is a much more nosebleed to a normal web master which have no knowledge with backend architecture, why do you want to configure blogger when it’s already configured? unlike wordpress from the box who takes tons of steps to be configured before you can start enjoying posting.
2.Blogger’s CSS cannot be externalized.
ME-> it can using some injection methods or Javascript. but it won’t work if some options in the browsers aren’t turned on. having to externalized CSS is just for people who don’t want to share in the internet. pheeez

ME-> correct! this is one I agree with, but without the plugin WP is much more worst than blogger, cloaking will help blogger with this. But who uses META’s nowadays??? LOLZ

Wordpress may look candy but they look staggeredly anti-corporate, if you want corporate you may atleast stick to Joomla or Drupal

Personally I’d rather use someone who was less corporate, but I disagree that wordpress is more corporate than blogger. Blogger is owned by Google, that’s as corporate as you can get, even counting Microsoft if they had a blogger platform.
I like Google, but as they have grown they can’t escape being the corporate of the corporates in the online world.
Blogger is also a pain in the total nether region of the body to customize/personalize.
ok thanks for the comments though, by the way, it may also depend on the way of designing a blog. Both blogger and wordpress are good but I just stopped using blogger because of layout issues. It’s a nosebleed because the code is merely for blogger-only purposes. And by the way, most of SEO tournament contestants majorly used wordpress.
that’s another thing I always want to put a piece of beating in the ass about. those worhtless SEO contest. What? all they ever did is make garbage contest that spams up Google’s SERP results or better yet eat a lot of bandwidth???
Imagine a contest running for 3 months with a pot money of $5,000 – are you going to buy and join in a contest like that?
Let’s see… if you are to earned $3,000 from client based jobs and outsourcing per month plus advertisement earnings of let’s say $1,000 and add up affiliates with $1,000. that’s already $5,000 a month worth of earnings to you…
in 3 months time you could be as well $15,000 rich than having to join an SEO contest with you having doubts if your going to be the greatest SPAMMER errr SEO’r in the world.
P.S. most winners came out with money in their pocket, go check out their sites after
well you have a point but it’s not about spamming Google’s SERP, but the purpose of that contest is to show how good are you in SEO and how good are you in doing SE friendly sites/pages.
I don’t get it why SEO want to let the whole world know how good you are at something that everybody can do.
I wouldn’t mind be known in Guinness at something only a few people can do but SEO?
The secret lies in silence where the real SEO’s thrive and collect tons of money without the whole world knowing it.
For a mere $5,000 in 6 months for a pot money? Some unknown SEO ( they even don’t call themselves SEO ) is making that big of a money on a weekly basis.
They don’t need a contest or putting up garbage SERP page where every search “FDKJHGH” or some random gibberish keywords and the top site wins the money.
For me though pal, that’s SE spamming.
They use Google resources and bandwith, they use internet pages that have links to a lot of site when someone visits all they ever talked about is Yeah I’m in a contest for a gibberish word. lol

- Well, a normal webmaster must also know PHP because if it is a nosebleed for him/her, well why would do webmastery if he/she does not know PHP? And about the configuration, well it is up to the user if he/she wants to add up new codes, if he/she know the new coding structure of blogger. It is better to familiarize WordPress or any other CMS for you to be called a “webmaster”. Peace

Actually this is a good point, yeah wordpress may also look anti-corporate if anyone does not know how to skin it corporately. Drupal and Joomla are the best alternatives if you want better and more corporate CMS.

Not all webmasters know PHP, and PHP is not the end/start all of being a webmaster, not all server platforms are Linux based and according to the trends windows based server are nearly overtaking Linux based machines so PHP is on the brink of extinction from ASP and .NET, so why generalized a webmaster’s knowhow from a backend server side includes programming?
what a NORMAL webmaster must know first and foremost is his HTML. CSS and XHTML, XML are just part of the extension of HTML, if you are not knowledgeable from this then I bet you must get back to basics and learn it.
lastly there is no standards that claim how you should design your page using CSS by either going external or internal, W3C? it’s a hype to get famous from those school boys in there.
Webmastering is just a start, a true internet mind is being a jack of all trades and coping with the times.
oh I forgot, View the source of MSN and see the clutter? then why is the page still coming out fine? it’s because nobody cares about the codes but other webmasters who are insecure about their coding. LOLZ
id still go using wordpress much easy and personalize who want to have a blog that isnt in your own host
